Shrine of Christ's Passion

   A group of 47 people -- deacons,     
    wives, families and friends -- went on   
   pilgrimage Sunday, May 3, to the
   Shrine of Christ's Passion in St. John,
   Ind. The day started out with Mass and
   included lunch, an opportunity to walk
   the stations, visit church and browse the
   gift shop. A big thank-you to the
   Diaconate Council for covering the cost
   of the bus.


New retreat dates for 2015-2016

Convocation 2015

   Archbishop Blase Cupich will be the keynote speaker
   at the 2015 Convocation on Saturday, June 13,
   at St. John Brebeuf Parish in Niles. Deacons and wives 
   make sure to mark your calendars.

   10:30 a.m. to noon Keynote by Archbishop Blase Cupich and Ministry Awards Presentation
  Noon to 1:30 p.m. Lunch
  1:30 to 2:20 p.m. Afternoon workshops
   2:30 p.m. Mid-day Prayer and closing 
  2:45 to 3:45 Social                                           



Upcoming liturgy classes

     Father Matthew Compton will be offering a series of classes on the liturgy and homiletics to the Diaconate Community in 2015y. These classes will be an extension of the Emmaus Program for the newly ordained.

    The classes for the Diaconate Commuity at large will be held at 5 p.m. the first Tuesday of the month at the Diaconate Office in Forest Park. To sign up for a class, call the Diaconate Office at (708) 366-8900

Diaconate Executive Committee

The Executive Committee of the Diaconate Council consists of Deacons Chuck McFarland, vice chairman, left; Dennis Robak, treasurer; George Kashmar, chairman; Bill Stearns, immediate past chairman; and John Gaughan, secretary. Also serving on the committee are Deacon Richard Hudzik, Vicar for Deacons; Fr. Michael Ahlstrom, Vicar Emeritus; and Deacon Dave Brencic, associate director.
