St. Francis Day Dinner

The St. Francis Day Dinner, the Diaconate Community's major fundraising event, will begin at 4 PM on Sunday, October 12, at Elmcrest Banquets, 7370 W. Grand Avenue in Elmwood Park.

Cost is $35 per person. To reserve a seat, send in a reservation and check (payable to the Diaconate Council) to: 816 Marengo, Forest Park, IL 60130 or call (708) 366-8900.

Raffle tickets for the dinner are $5 a chance, 6 for $25. 

 

Women's Day of Reflection

"Empowerment -- Roles of Women in the Church" hosted by Women of the Diaconate Community and presented by Fr. Bernard Kennedy, OFM, Saturday, Nov. 8, at St. Celestine Church, 3020 N. 76th Court, Elmwood Park. (Note change of location).

Registration will be at 8:30 a.m. Day will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Suggested donation is $10. Feel free to bring a friend. RSVP by Nov. 1. For more information, call Marge Colgan at (708) 456-6787 or Terry Coffey at (708) 442-3345.

 

Exploring the Diaconate

The Institute for Diaconal Studies will be holding Exploring the Diaconate sessions from September to February for men who want to learn more about the discernment process and the Diaconate formation program.

Vicariate I: Sept. 25, 7 to 9 p.m., St. Mary of Vernon Parish Center, Indian Creek

Vicariate II: Dec. 4, 7 to 9 p.m., St. Philip the Apostle Social Room, Northfield

Vicariate III: Nov. 6, 7 to 9 p.m., Old St. Patrick's Fr. Jack Wall Mission Center, Chicago

Vicariate IV: Oct. 9, 7 to 9 p.m., St. Barbara Prairie Rooms A-B, Brookfield

Vicariate V: Nov. 13, 7 to 9 p.m., St. Julie Billiart Great Hall, Tinley Park

Diaconate Executive Committee






















The Executive Committee of the Diaconate Council consists of Deacons Chuck McFarland, vice chairman, left; Dennis Robak, treasurer; George Kashmar, chairman; Bill Stearns, immediate past chairman; and John Gaughan, secretary. Also serving on the committee are Deacon Richard Hudzik, Vicar for Deacons; Fr. Michael Ahlstrom, Vicar Emeritus; and Deacon Dave Brencic, associate director.

 
  

 Death Announcements Minimize
Death of Deacon Thomas Meehan

It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of Deacon Thomas Meehan, class of 1979. Deacon Meehan died Sunday, Aug. 31. He was 87.

Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, at Our Lady of Loretto Church, 8925 S. Kostner Ave., Hometown. A memorial mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Loretto.

Deacons are encouraged to attend the Mass and be seated as an order while vested in alb and white Archdiocesan stole.

Condolences may be sent to Mrs. Genanne Meehan, 8762 S. Kildare, Hometown, IL 60456.

Please pray for Deacon Meehan and Genanne and their family. May the soul of Deacon Meehan and all the faithful departed rest in peace.
