Exploring the Diaconate

The Institute for Diaconal Studies will be holding Exploring the Diaconate sessions from September to February for men who want to learn more about the discernment process and the Diaconate formation program.

The Executive Committee of the Diaconate Council consists of Deacons Chuck McFarland, vice chairman, left; Dennis Robak, treasurer; George Kashmar, chairman; Bill Stearns, immediate past chairman; and John Gaughan, secretary. Also serving on the committee are Deacon Richard Hudzik, Vicar for Deacons; Fr. Michael Ahlstrom, Vicar Emeritus; and Deacon Dave Brencic, associate director.

Death of Deacon John Schwarz

Deacon John Schwarz, 88, class of 1978, died Monday, Nov. 17, in McAllen, Texas. He is survived by his wife Caroline, three sons and many grandchildren.

The wake service will be at 7 p.m. Friday, November 21, at Kreidler Funeral Home in McAllen. The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in McAllen.

Death of Deacon Carlos Perez and Frances Klimcke

Deacon Carlos Perez, class of 1972, died Oct. 31. Deacon Perez had been ill for some time. Please keep Deacon Perez and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

We also remember Frances Klimcke, widow of Deacon Walter Klimcke, class of 1974. Mrs. Klimcke died on Nov. 13.

The wake service is Sunday, Nov. 23, from 3 to 9 p.m. at Hallowell and James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countrywide. The funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, at St. Cletus Church.
