Lent

The season of Lent is a time when we are called to participate in the life of Christ in a special way.

Prayer, fasting and almsgiving are an integral part of our Lenten tradition. These disciplines will lead us to a deeper holiness, a closer identification with Jesus Christ and his Gospel. We do this in response to God’s great love for us.

To carry on the Lenten tradition of the Diaconate Community of the Archdiocese of Chicago, I invite you to give prayerful consideration and generous support to one or more of the charities noted below. The Diaconate Council will match your contributions, up to a maximum of $2,000. Each of the charities listed is actively directed, staffed or strongly supported by the men and women of our Diaconate community. You and I are called to help address the urgent financial needs of these charities, so that they can carry out their mission serving those in need.

To donate online, click here. Your contribution will be distributed evenly across the 2024 Lenten Appeal Charities.

May this season’s call to discipline and renewal be a gracious invitation to return to the Lord a small portion of His many blessings in your life.

Together in Christ,

James R. Sponder

Chairman Chicago Diaconate Council
