Diaconate Convocation 2022

The 2022 Diaconate Convocation will be held June 3 – 5 at the Chicago Marriott Oak Brook. “Fifty Years of Spirit-Filled Service to the Lord” is the theme of our gathering.

The Convocation begins on Friday evening, June 3, with prayer, Adoration, and a meditative presentation by Fr. Richard Fragomeni on “Initiating Presence: The Eucharist, The Deacon and Death.” A cash bar social will follow.

The Convocation officially opens on Saturday morning, June 4, with prayer and welcome. Fr. Damian Ference will be the keynote speaker and  will offer three presentations centered on “Always Becoming a Disciple of Jesus” on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday afternoon, there will be two rounds of workshops.

Saturday evening there will be a banquet when the annual Ministry Award winners will be announced. The Convocation will conclude Sunday morning with Mass.

Cost and registration:

On Friday, June 3, there is no additional charge for attending the events (other than your expenses at the cash bar. Food will not be served). For those who want to conclude their evening with prayer, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will be offered.

The cost of the 2022 Convocation is $100 per person for early-bird registration from April 1 to April 24, 2022. Beginning April 25, registration will increase to $120 per person. Convocation registration closes May 9. The fee for the Convocation DOES NOT INCLUDE the cost of the hotel room (but it does include three meals on Saturday and Sunday breakfast).

There is some scholarship money available If you need financial assistance in helping to pay for the cost of the Convocation. For more information, contact the Diaconate Office.

Hotel information:

We have been able to secure a room rate of $95 per night plus tax at the Chicago Marriott Oak Brook, 1401 W. 22nd Street, Oak Brook.

The deadlines to reserve a hotel room is May 13. Convocation registration closes May 9.
