Misa del Pueblo at Fiesta del Sol
The 12th Annual Misa del Pueblo at Fiesta del Sol will take place on July 28, 2024 at 1:00 PM. Claretian priest, Fr. Byron Macias, will preside the liturgy this year.
This year's theme for Fiesta del Sol is "Enlazando Fronteras/Bridging Borders" reflecting our commitment to addressing and serving the growing number of migrants and refugees arriving in Chicago. Deacons planning to attend and vest should notify the Diaconate Office no later than Wednesday, July 24th. Deacons should arrive between 12:00 and 12:15 PM behind the main stage on Cermak and Morgan, to pick up their parking passes.
Sunrise Prayer
The Annual Sunrise Prayer Service and Mass, hosted by the Black Catholic Deacons of Chicago, will be held at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, August 3, at Oakwood Beach, 41st Street and Lake Shore Drive in Chicago. Cardinal Cupich will offer remarks and a blessing.
World-wide deacon pilgrimage to Italy
The Vatican is welcoming deacons to Rome for a world-wide gathering late February 2025. The Diaconate Office is organizing a pilgrimage to Italy from February 19- February 25, 2025. Part of the trip will allow pilgrims to attend the Vatican events. Additionally, we will be visiting other sites in Rome and Assisi.
The pilgrimage is open to deacons, wives, family, friends, parishioners who want to see Rome with daily Mass, prayer and visits to the holy sites. Our spiritual director will be Fr. Donald Siple. OSM.

St. Lawrence Mass and Celebration of Ordination

Join the Diaconate Community at the St. Lawrence Mass and Celebration of Ordination with special recognition to the classes of 1974, 1979, 1984, 1989,1994, 1999 & 2024 on Sunday, August 11, 2024.
The 2:30 p.m. Mass will be held at Holy Guardian Angels Parish – St. Louise de Marillac Church, 1155 Harrison Ave., LaGrange Park. A catered meal will follow in the Parish Hall.
